Dragon Ball has been a massive success worldwide, and it’s no surprise that you can even find mobile games based on Akira Toriyama’s masterpiece. For our fellow Dragon Ball fans out there who can only game on their mobile phones, we decided to compile all Dragon Ball mobile games released on Android or iOS.
We’ve even included those that have been out of circulation or Japan-only for compilation’s sake (gotta be thorough for the Dragon Ball historians). Here are all Dragon Ball games mobile ranked by quality, availability, and overall fun.
1. Dragon Ball Legends
Release Date: 2018
Released On: Android, iOS
We’re starting this list with what we think is the best Dragon Ball mobile game! This game masterfully blends the battle system for card games and the fighting mechanics commonly found in most Dragon Ball games. Best of all, it’s totally free and still available!
It does have gacha for its cards, but don’t let that deter you from trying. The game is very generous with its Chrono Crystals (in-game currency), and you can definitely play it without buying anything. But if you’re not against spending some dough to boost your progress, you can buy Dragon Ball Legends accounts over at U7BUY.
With almost never-ending updates and events (it recently celebrated its 6th anniversary), it’s hard not to crown this game as the best on mobile.
2. Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle
Release Date: 2015
Released On: Android, iOS
Before Legends, Dokkan Battle reigned supreme in the Dragon Ball mobile games scene. It presents its story in manga-style and the combat is a puzzle board game mechanic where you tap colorful bubbles. Like Legends, it’s also free-to-play and still available.
The most fun aspect of this game is when you’re picking characters to form a team. Plus, the story is a delight to go through. It’s like reading animated manga panels!
3. Dragon Ball RPG (Shounen-Hen / Boy Arc)
Release Date: 2013
Released On: Android, iOS (Japan only)
If you enjoyed Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans on the Nintendo DS, then you’ll have heaps of fun with this mobile game, as it follows the same fighting mechanics. Story-wise, it only focuses on Goku’s childhood in Dragon Ball.
Sadly, this was only officially released in Japan, so you’ll have to find other ways to play it.
4. Dragon Ball: Tap Battle
Release Date: 2013
Released On: Android, iOS (Japan Only)
This was one of the earliest Dragon Ball fighting games on mobile. As its name suggests, battling in this game is done by tapping your screen. You can even connect to other phones via Bluetooth to play PvP!
5. Dragon Ball: Ultimate Swipe
Release Date: 2014
Released On: Android, iOS (Japan Only)
With graphics from Tenkaichi Tag Team and simplified gameplay of screen swipes and taps (similar to Tap Battle), Ultimate Swipe was a fun Dragon Ball mobile game from the early smartphone years. But like other Japan-only games on this list, you’ll have to scour the internet for a way to play this.
6. Jump Petit Heroes (Jumputi Heroes)
Release Date: 2018
Released On: Android, iOS (Japan and Taiwan Only)
This puzzle RPG features characters from Weekly Shonen Jump. You level up your characters like an RPG and match colored icons to boost your character’s strength. There are 27 DB characters featured in the game, including Goku, Vegeta, and even Gotenks, to name a few.
7. Dragon Ball: Awakening
Release Date: 2019
Released On: Android, iOS (China Only)
Only released for the Chinese market, this is basically a mobile card game that encourages players to do a collect-a-thon.
8. Dragon Ball Z Bucchigiri Match
Release Date: 2018 (Stopped in 2020)
Released On: Mobile Browser (Japan Only)
This was another card game that was played on mobile browsers in Japan. It had a gacha system that sadly wasn’t profitable, so it had to shut down in 2020.
Conclusion
Among the limited number of Dragon Ball games on mobile, Dragon Ball Legends remains the best for its content and activeness. It’s an excellent foray into the mobile game market, and we’re excited to see what the franchise has in store in the future! For more game accounts to buy in Legends, visit UBUY for a complete list.
